Project Overview
FME transformed neglected land surrounding a balancing pond at Elmsall Way into a practical conservation area that supports flood management, biodiversity and employee wellbeing.
The Challenge
The overgrown site had accumulated invasive vegetation and silt, limiting the pond’s capacity and leaving the land inaccessible. The client wanted a sustainable improvement that remained secure, functional and sympathetic to the environment.
Our Solution
Our teams cleared 60 tonnes of overgrowth, removed 300 tonnes of silt, installed sustainable timber footways and fencing, laid underground ducting for lighting and CCTV, and formed accessible paths and breakout areas using permeable materials.
- Careful planning and preparation
- Safe management of the working area
- Quality-controlled delivery
- Minimal disruption to site operations

Quality, Safety and Coordination
Every stage was managed by FME with clear communication, appropriate controls and a focus on durable, compliant workmanship.
The Result
The completed conservation area restores the pond’s operational capacity, improves biodiversity and gives employees a safe, attractive outdoor space. It demonstrates how underused industrial land can become a valuable environmental and workplace asset.
